Best Self-Defense Keychains On The Market Today

This list, which is the product of extensive research, includes the best SDKs for sale today.

We included different types of SDK, so there should be something here for everyone:

1. Our Top Pick
SURVIVAL FROG Lifeshield Self Defense Kit

This keychain set from Survival Frog includes three self defense devices:

  1. Pepper Gel / Spray
  2. Personal Alarm
  3. Stun Gun

The Personal alarm is meant to be added to a keychain, while the other two devices would make a keychain a bit bulky.

However, it's a wise investment if you're serious about self-defense without firearm training.

PROS
  • Great for those who are not comfortable with guns
  • Safe for users (but bad for an attacker)
  • Non-lethal injury to keep you out of jail
  • Temporary disable gives you time to getaway
  • Compact to keep in a purse or bag
  • Easy to use, no training required
  • Bundle of 3 high-quality self-defense items
  • Sold by a trusted vendor in the survival space
  • Includes A Compact But Powerful Taser
CONS
  • Likely too bulky to add all 3 items to a single keychain

2.
Police Force Expandable Keychain Baton

If you’re looking for a baton keychain, the Police Force Tactical model is our pick.

The baton clips onto a standard keyring for easy access.

When compacted, it is around 5.5 inches and 9 oz.

This is somewhat bulky for a keychain, but user reviews say it's generally unobtrusive.

The real power of this baton becomes clear when you unfold it.

Unclipping and unfolding the baton is a matter of two easy movements.

When expanded, it reveals 12 inches of high-quality black brushed steel.

The appearance of the expanded baton will be enough to deter some assailants.

If needed, though, it is also a very well-performing high-impact self-defense tool.

PROS
  • Compact but expandable
  • Strong but lightweight
  • Heavy-duty
  • Impressive looking
  • Easy to use.
CONS
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in some places
  • Larger and less subtle

3.
My Kitty | Brutus Bulldog Plastic Self-Defense Weapon

We won’t mince words: the My Kitty and the Brutus Bulldog aren’t for everyone.

Still, these models are a great choice in the “sharp objects” category, provided you are the right user.

On the surface, the My Kitty and the Brutus Bulldog are pretty innocuous-looking.

Designed to look like a cat or dog, they can appear innocent enough, like charms on any keychain.

But the playful look of these self-defense keychains belies their effectiveness.

These SDKs are made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, a strong molded plastic.

Powerful and efficient, they're reminiscent of brass knuckles without the heaviness.

The user's fingers go through the holes where the cat or dog’s “eyes” would be.

These holes can accommodate fingers of most sizes and help the tool rest in an ideal attack position against the fist.

However, there are a few potential hiccups regarding the My Kitty and the Brutus Bulldog.

Brutus Self Defense KeychainBrutus Bulldog Self-Defense Keychain

For one, it can open you up closer and more serious contact with an assailant.

This is somewhat necessary for heavy-duty self-defense.

Still, users should consider whether they would be comfortable using an SDK that way.

It should also be noted that My Kitty-style SDKs are more likely to be heavily regulated.

In some cities and states, they are outright illegal.

However, if you are comfortable using the My Kitty, and it’s legal where you are, it’s a solid choice for self-defense.

PROS
  • Durable, lightweight, and effective
  • Sharp and easily accessible
  • Simple, efficient design, with no charging or prep necessary
CONS
  • Heavy-duty self-defense weapons that may involve close combat
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in some places

4.
Fox Labs Five Point Three Police Pepper Spray

Earlier this year, I read an interesting news article. It was about a man hospitalized after eating one Carolina Reaper.

It is said to be the hottest chili pepper known to man - at around 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Units!

This pepper causes intense dry heaves, blinding headaches, and some near-stroke symptoms. But what if the “pepper” in a pepper spray was that powerful?

FOX Labs is measured at 5,300,000 SHU - an astounding 265% hotter than the Carolina Reaper!

It can spray this blinding defense up to 17 to 20 feet.

FOX Labs Pepper Spray is used by Police, Law Enforcement, Security, and Military agencies worldwide.

5.
SABRE Advanced Compact Pepper Spray with Clip

There are many pepper spray keychains, but our money is on the SABRE RED.

Sabre has a solid reputation, and for a good reason.

Their reliable products bring top-of-the-line, proven technology to the average consumer.

The RED Pepper Spray Keychain is no exception.

The canister on the RED is lightweight and easy to clip onto a standard keyring.

A finger grip on the canister gives it a natural fit in hand.

The firing mechanism has both a pressure-controlled trigger and a quick-release ring latch.

This is very useful in case you need the full force of the tool all at once.

And full force is what this puppy delivers.

Sabre's OC spray packs the greatest punch available by law and is lab-tested to bring the pain.

As an added special feature, the spray is UV-marked.

This can help ID an assailant if they get away after you spray them.

If you're worried about safety, the SABRE RED is also safe when you aren't using it.

A reinforced twist lock on the SDK prevents accidental discharge.

We especially like the SABRE RED for the value.

In each can, you get around 25 full bursts.

This is approximately 5 times as many bursts as other pepper spray keychains.

Canisters also stay good for quite some time.

They have a shelf life of approximately four years which is higher than average.

The SABRE RED also includes free training videos if you're a pepper spray newbie.

PROS
  • Powerful OC pepper spray with UV marking
  • Excellent value/sprays per canister
  • Safe to carry when not in use.
CONS
  • The firing range is shorter than a full-sized pepper spray tool
  • It may be illegal and/or difficult to take places.

6.
TERMINATOR Stun Gun with Ear Piercing Siren and Flashlight

Like pepper spray keychains, many stun gun keychains are on the market.

Our favorite all-around product is the Terminator.

This stun gun is the real deal.

It is compact but heavy-duty.

Its electrode spikes are ultra-sharp and strong enough to get through thick clothing.

The kick that it delivers has real stopping power.

One stand-out feature is the electrified shock plates on the sides of the Terminator.

These plates will shock anyone coming at the gun sideways, which prevents snatching.

Informed users should not have trouble avoiding the shock plates.

The Terminator's contoured grip makes it very easy to hang on to.

Some novice users have reported slipping up and touching the plates.

Still, more experienced or practiced users shouldn't have that issue.

Only 6.5 inches long and 2 inches by 1 inch wide, the Terminator is great for portability.

You can also carry it using the included wrist strap and holster.

Another bonus is the Terminator’s lifetime warranty, which secures your investment.

Since stun guns are electric, they do need charging.

The Terminator comes with its own charging cord that can plug into any outlet.

PROS
  • Powerful electric shock with stopping power
  • Sharp electrodes that can pierce through clothing
  • Snatch-resistant
  • Versatile
CONS
  • It may pose a danger to inexperienced users who touch the shock plates.
  • Requires charging
  • It may be illegal, regulated, and/or difficult to bring on flights and past private security

7.
Hootie Personal Keychain Alarm

The Hootie Alarm uses the traditional principles of a safety alarm/flashlight.

It is keychain-sized, which you wouldn't expect for the amount of noise it can make.

When activated, it unleashes a screeching, hyper-loud siren.

At approximately 130 decibels, it makes about as much noise as an airplane.

The Hootie also has impressive staying power.

Once activated, it can sound at full volume for 30-40 minutes.

It also has a high-intensity strobe light that can activate with the siren for added impact.

This makes it a great SDK for both self-defense and wilderness purposes.

The Hootie activates via a pull-release pin.

This mechanism is popular among users because it makes it difficult for the Hootie to go off by accident.

Some SDK alarms have sensitive buttons that can be pushed or prodded during the day.

Not so for the Hootie.

The Hootie is an alternative to other, more serious self-defense keychains.

It is powerful and poses no real risk of doing lasting harm or engaging you in more involved combat.

It also has a wide range of designs for many different “looks,” be it toned down and discrete or loud and fun.

PROS
  • Very loud and attention-grabbing
  • Difficult to set off accidentally
  • Weatherproof and durable
CONS
  • It may not feel like enough protection on its own

8.
Coghlan's Four-Function Whistle

This is our pick if you’re interested in a whistle for self-defense.

It is a product from trusted camping and wilderness outfitters, Coughlan's.

This reflects in the quality and performance of the product.

It is powerful enough to help aid search and rescue missions in deep backcountry terrain.

It is also very useful in self-defense situations.

One distinguishing feature of this whistle is an added sound magnifier.

This helps the whistle outperform its peers in sheer volume.

It is also lightweight and very durable, as well as waterproof.

As the name implies, this whistle has the added benefit of being a multitool.

It also has a compass, a magnifier, and a two-scale thermometer.

PROS
  • Loud, shrill, and attention-grabbing
  • Multi-use tool
  • Weatherproof and durable
CONS
  • It may not feel like enough protection on its own

9.
CRKT Keychain Mini Key Knife

This mini knife takes full advantage of its place on a keyring.

It may be indistinguishable from your other keys at first glance.

Pressing on the right side of this "key" reveals a 1.76-inch blade.

Once unsheathed, it may scare off the assailant.

If not, you can use it much the same way you would use a mini-pocket knife.

This durable little SDK has an ergonomic handle for improved grip.

It also doubles as a Phillips head screwdriver as a bonus.

The Williams Defense Key is not for everyone, like the My Kitty and the Brutus Bulldog.

Because of the blade, it is among the more heavy-duty self-defense SDKs on this list.

You should only opt for the Key if you feel comfortable with close combat.

The Key is also subject to regulation and is even illegal in certain areas.

Potential purchasers should double-check the laws and policies in their area.

However, it is an excellent tool if you are comfortable using the Key and can do so legally.

It is especially ideal for people who want discretion and the best element of surprise.

PROS
  • Very easy to conceal
  • Powerful with quick access
  • Dual-use with Phillips head screwdriver.
CONS
  • Heavy-duty self-defense weapons that may involve close combat
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in some places

10.
Streetwise Pocket Shark Weapon

The six-inch Shar-Key may not be as subtle as other picks on this list.

It looks like a blatant self-defense weapon.

It does make up for this by giving you the advantage if you’re stuck in close combat with an assailant.

The Shar-Key pulls onto your dominant hand somewhere between a fist load and a sharp object SDK.

Finger indentations keep it from sliding around and fasten it in place.

It has three striking points (on the front and sides) that can impact an assailant.

The tool is especially useful when impacting pressure points.

The right type of pressure point hit with a Shar-Key can disable an oncoming attack.

This can buy you the time to run away before the assailant can compose themselves.

The Shar-Key does work best if the user has some hand-to-hand combat training.

Users should at least know where to land a punch on an assailant’s body for it to be effective.

PROS
  • Drastically improves the odds of fending off an assailant
  • Powerful and versatile, with three impact points
  • Easy to access and slide onto the hand.
CONS
  • Not recommended for people with little to no knowledge of self-defense anatomy
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in some places
  • Slightly larger and less subtle than other self-defense keychains.

11.
SOG KeyTron Folding Knife

If you’ve decided to use a knife for your self-defense keychain, our pick is the SOG KeyTron.

First things first, this SDK is lightweight and durable.

It clips onto a standard keyring and can blend with whatever hangs there.

This makes it way less likely to attract the attention of security personnel.

It also makes it way less likely to tip off an assailant and destroy your element of surprise.

This knife also gives you all the power you need in a compact container.

Its 1.8-inch blade is street-legal in many states, unlike similar SDK knives.

It is also sharp enough to get the job of self-defense done in a few well-placed slashes or jabs.

Also, this manual-open SDK has a latch release that keeps you safe when you’re not using the tool to defend yourself.

It also doubles as a bottle opener, making it useful even when danger is at bay.

PROS
  • Sharp, efficient, and powerful
  • Lightweight for the amount of power it packs
  • Subtle and discreet
  • Manual latch release for safety.
CONS
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in some places
  • Best for people who know or are willing to learn about hand-to-hand combat

12.
Titaner Outdoor EDC Keychain "Toothpick" Tool

Our last item is a covert but still effective self-defense keychain.

The EDC Titaner's main function is being a toothpick.

In its own right, the toothpick is handy to have around, as well as eco-friendly since it’s reusable.

In a pinch, it is also an excellent self-defense keychain.

When not in use, the toothpick reverts into a titanium sheath.

When opened, it is approximately 3 inches of a toothpick.

Made from titanium, it is strong and sharp.

When facing an assailant, it can jab pressure points and vulnerable fleshy body parts.

Like all other sharp object SDKs, the Toothpick is much more useful if you know where to stab it.

Another issue pointed out by reviewers is that to use the toothpick, you have to unscrew it from its sheath. This can take precious time.

One solution that some users have shared is to practice unscrewing the toothpick.

This can make the process much quicker and cut down on lost time.

PROS
  • Multi-use and a green alternative to disposable toothpicks
  • Small and unobtrusive
  • Sharp and strong without being too bulky
CONS
  • It may be illegal and/or regulated in someplace
  • Unscrewing is required to use the sharp end of the tool.

What Is A Self-Defense Keychain?

A “self-defense keychain” is any tool that clips onto a keychain.

They are portable, accessible, and easy to carry and use.

These devices are not always immediately recognizable as a self-defense tools.

This means you can take them places where you cannot take other defensive weapons.

They also offer the element of surprise.

An assailant is less likely to recognize a keychain tool as a weapon.

This can help you catch them off-guard when you use one to defend yourself.

Who Should Carry A Weaponized Keychain?

Keychain devices are easy to use and easy to access.

These weapons are designed for personal safety.

You don’t have to be a martial arts expert to use them.

This empowers many more people to defend themselves with SDKs.

People who might particularly benefit include:

  • Anyone who often feels less secure than they’d like during their daily life
  • Those who walk through unpopulated or unlit areas, especially at night
  • Night shift workers
  • Students on college campuses
  • Night runners or joggers
  • Delivery drivers
  • Backpackers or travelers
  • Senior citizens
  • People who appear to be small or vulnerable
  • Children who stay home alone, who travel alone, or who walk to or from school alone

6 Category Of Self Defense Keychains

SDKs can be roughly classed into the following categories:

1. Sharp Objects

This type of SDK utilizes sharp/pointed edges or a blade.

Keychain blades are often foldable, retractable, or have a sheath.

This is for both safety and subtlety. Many sharp object SDKs belong to one of two subtypes:

Mini Pocket Knives

Pocket knives have long been used for self-defense, but full-length knives aren’t right for everyone.

Some people don’t feel comfortable carrying a bigger knife, and some are illegal.

That’s where mini pocket knives come into play.

Usually only 1-2.5 inches long, the blades on these knives are compact but often quite powerful.

The sight of a knife, especially one that has been up to that point concealed, can shock an assailant.

They can also be used:

  • To deliver quick surface-level cuts or scrapes. This can shock an assailant or force them to loosen their grip.
  • To stab or jab at an assailant, especially at critical pressure points, to deter or distract them.

Spiked

These sharp object SDKs usually have one to four spikes you can use to defend yourself from an assailant.

They sometimes have finger holes or grips, which help secure the SDK to the user’s hand.

The spikes vary in length and sharpness and have different uses depending on the SDK.

Spiked weapons are usually made from aluminum or steel.

They can also be made of several different materials, including plastics.

Spiked keychains can be used as a:

  • Scraping/slashing tool to shock an assailant or force them to loosen their grip;
  • Fist load (something to increase the impact of a punch or blow.)
  • Stabbing/jabbing tool for use on the soft fleshy parts of an assailant’s body or at their pressure points.

2. Blunt Striking Objects

Many are blunt objects rather than pointed objects.

You can use them to strike, stun, block, and/or disarm an assailant.

A blunt object SDK can buy you valuable time if you’re trying to escape quickly.

Their construction is usually basic, and they do not need charging or batteries.

A few different types of blunt striking objects are available in keychain size.

They include:

Kubotans

The kubotan is a self-defense tool originally based on the yawara (similar to tactical pens).

They are usually around the size of a thick marker, no more than 5.5 inches long and around half an inch wide.

The standard model has six round grooves for ergonomic grip and a screw eye or swivel.

They have a split ring attachment to clip to a keychain on one end.

There are many different models of kubotan with various designs and features.

Kubotans are often made from Lexan, a hard, high-impact plastic.

Some kubotans are made from different materials. This includes other plastics, bamboo, wood, aluminum, and various metals.

Kubotans are intuitive for self-defense.

Still, they are most effective with basic training.

They have many uses, including:

  • Striking, stabbing, or jabbing against the body’s bony, fleshy, or sensitive parts
  • As a fist load
  • As a point/compliance weapon. The kubotan can lay into specific pressure points to force a limb or body downward;
  • Prying an assailant’s fingers apart/forcing them to loosen their grip;
  • As a flailing weapon. When attached to a set of keys, you can use a kubotan as a firm handle to attack with the sharper keys.

Batons

Batons are cylindrical self-defense weapons.

They are usually made from plastic, steel, or aluminum alloy.

Most batons that would fit on a keychain are expandable batons.

These are sometimes called “collapsible” or “telescopic” batons.

A standard baton has a single cylindrical shaft.

An expandable baton has an outer shaft that contains 1-3 inner shafts.

These collapsible shafts lock into each other when expanded.

In a compacted state, expandable batons are often difficult to identify.

An unfolding baton can be pretty intimidating, especially if it is a surprise.

This is sometimes enough to deter an attacker.

If the sight of the baton is not enough, you can use baton keychains:

  • To give hard, full swings downward on the meaty parts of the arms and thighs.
  • Swing hard at the bones in the arms, legs, hands, knees, shins, and elbows. This can shock and immobilize the assailant or force the release of the assailant’s grip.
  • As a last resort, swing hard at the assailant’s temples or groin. This can inflict damage and shock significant enough for escape.

3. Whistles and Alarms

A survival whistle or alarm is a class of SDK that relies on the assailant’s fear of exposure.

The sound they make is loud enough to call attention to the fact you’re being attacked.

This also lets an assailant know you do not intend to go quietly.

Whistle keychains have a  very basic design.

Though there are slight variations by brand, they are otherwise self-explanatory.

Whistles can also be uncomfortable if blown close to an assailant’s eardrums.

Sometimes, they can even be painful.

This may distract an assailant for long enough to make your escape.

Self-defense alarms make a loud, shrill noise when activated.

Their main function is like that of the whistle.

Sometimes, they are multipurpose and also have flashing lights.

Some models even have emergency service alert triggers.

4. Flashlights

Like whistles and alarms, flashlights are fairly self-explanatory.

Their main purpose is to shine a bright light on an assailant.

Many SDK flashlights also have solid bodies that you can use, like a kubotan or baton.

You can use keychain flashlights:

  • To shine a light on an assailant. You can shine light in their eyes to stun, obscure, confuse, or even do optical damage. You can also shine a light on their person to expose them to bystanders.
  • To impact an assailant in the same way a baton or kubaton might.
  • As a fist load.
  • As a handle to secure the keychain while using the keys as a flailing weapon.

5. Pepper Spray/Mace

This sort of SDK uses abrasive substances loaded into a deployment device.

Common substances include pepper spray and mace.

Common deployment devices include spray cans, misters, and guns.

Different pepper spray/mace SDKs have different ranges.

Generally, they are for use at a somewhat close range.

Pepper spray, mace, and similar substances are not toys.

They are extreme irritants, and you should take them seriously.

Remember that they are only for use in serious self-defense situations.

In some cases, pulling out a canister of the spray will be enough to deter an attacker.

If it is not, you can use a mace or pepper spray keychain:

  • To spray an assailant’s eyes. This can cause extreme pain, irritation, tearing, and temporary vision loss.
  • To spray an assailant’s mouth or nose. This can cause breathing obstruction and extreme irritation.
  • To spray an assailant’s skin, causing extreme skin irritation, pain, and itchiness.

6. Tasers and Stun Guns

The last type of SDK we’ll discuss here are tasers, stun guns, or even stun batons.

Many people use these three terms interchangeably.

In fact, tasers and stun guns are different types of self-defense tools:

Tasers

Tasers are small guns that use electric charges to stun or shock an assailant.

When shot, they fire two small barbed darts attached to thin, insulated copper wire.

The darts lodge into an assailant’s skin.

Once lodged, electricity passes through the wires into the assailant’s body.

One of the main effects of a Taser is that it interrupts voluntary muscle control.

It can also cause severe pain.

These effects are usually disruptive enough to incapacitate most assailants, at least temporarily.

This can help you loosen yourself from their grasp and give you enough time to run away.

Stun Guns

Stun guns are the other type of SDK in this category.

They are also handheld devices that use electricity to incapacitate assailants.

Stun guns work by passing electricity between two metal prongs at the end of the weapon.

The owner touches those prongs to an assailant’s body.

This delivers an electrical charge, which can cause serious muscle spasms and pain.

Stun guns are for use at a closer range than tasers.

This is because the user has to touch the weapon with the assailant’s body.

Still, they are quite powerful and can incapacitate many assailants on contact.

Like pepper spray and mace, tasers and stun guns are serious weapons.

You should not use them casually.

Users should take a course or at least read up on proper use.

In fact, some state laws demand that owners of stun guns and tasers must take usage classes.

If used as a self-defense tool, tasers and stun guns can:

  • Stop an assailant’s approach
  • Loosen an assailant’s grip
  • Cause an assailant to drop to the ground, giving you time to run
  • Distract or deter an assailant from their attack

Note: there are currently no effective keychain-sized tasers on the market today.

If you are looking for a Taser, your best bet is to invest in a full-sized product.

Best Keychain Features To Look For

Positive User Reviews

The market for defense keychains is somewhat unregulated.

As such, one of the best ways to gauge the quality of a given keychain is user experience.

Do your research.

Look for a product that has lots of positive reviews that seems authentic.

If there are negative reviews, think about the specific complaints.

In general, if a product has overwhelming negative reviews, it’s not usually a good sign.

Still, it is worth it to dig deep.

Negative reviews sometimes involve a single common issue.

It’s possible that this issue isn’t important to you.

Quality Materials

As a rule of thumb, it’s always better if you recognize the materials used.

If they aren’t, do some research.

Make sure that you can survive what your keys survive.

If the material is prone to rust, and your keys often get rained on, you may want to choose another SDK.

Thoughtful Construction

It is always best to understand the design behind a SDK.

Anyone selling you an SDK should be able to tell you about the product design.

Many have extensive product descriptions online.

You should still be able to inquire about the product design if it is unclear.

Most retailers and manufacturers have staff who are happy to answer any questions.

Portable and Discrete

Pick one that blends in with your other keychain items.

For some, this might be an aesthetic consideration.

Blatant self-defense products may not be the “look” you’re going for in your everyday life.

Beyond style, though, a well-concealed keychain weapon has a tactical advantage.

As mentioned above, it gives you the element of surprise.

If an assailant thinks you are defenseless, they are more likely to underestimate you.

You are also more likely to catch them off-guard when you do wield your tool.

Discretion also helps you carry your keychain weapon around.

The more obvious it is, the harder it is to get through security.

Portability is also important to remember when considering size and weight.

Ensure the keychain isn’t too heavy to carry wherever you keep your keychain.

Low-Maintenance

The best ones are mostly hands-off.

The average person has enough to remember and keep up with daily.

This makes it harder to remember to change another set of batteries or charge another device.

This isn’t to say that you should skip any product that needs charging or batteries.

Still, if an SDK needs frequent battery changes/charging, you should take note.

Make sure to think about how likely you are to remember to keep up with it.

The last thing you want is to wind up with an SDK you can’t use when you need it.

Legality Concerns Of Some Keychain Accessories

Some SDK are highly regulated and/or illegal.

The laws and regulations that control them vary depending on the area.

No one type of keychain weapon is illegal to own on a federal-state level (i.e., in all states).

For example:

The kitty keychain weapons are illegal in Texas (watch the video below):

↓ Are These Illegal In Texas? They Can Cost You

However, some self-defense keychains are completely illegal in some states.

While others are only legal with certain restrictions in some states.

Each State Is Different

Each state has its own policies and laws on weapons.

These policies and laws govern every different type of common SDKs.

Some areas have much more stringent laws and regulations than others.

Also, some types of SDK are more likely to be legal than others.

Whistles, alarms, flashlights, and certain kubatons are less likely to be illegal.

Other types of SDK have more restrictions and are illegal in some states.

These include knives and blades, large spiked keychains, and stun guns.

Many laws and policies about self-defense keychains are complex.

They are often more complicated than “legal” or “illegal.”

  • Some laws put an age restriction on certain SDKs.
  • Some laws say you must have licensure and/or training to own and use them.
  • Some laws say that people on parole cannot own specific types of SDK.
  • Further, some laws only restrict SDKs with specific features.

For instance, in many states, keychain knives are only allowed to have blades up to a certain length.

You should always research SDKs in your state or local laws.

Further, you should double-check laws specific to your county and city.

Unfortunately, there is a good deal of misinformation about this topic online.

So, unless you find a verifiable source of information, you should ask the local police or call 311.
